Marriage is a legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship. Marriage is a legally or socially sanctioned union usually between man and woman that is related by law, rules, customs and beliefs. Divorce is a legal dissolution of marriage. In simple terms, it is the separation of man and woman from husband and wife respectively The following are the causes of divorce in the society
Lack of family support; this is where a father may fail to provide family needs like food, clothes and medication to the family members leading to divorce.
Too much conflict (arguing) in the family, they are brought about by the following course, family business, in –law related conflict, conflicts over family events, step parent, step child conflict, parents and many others.
Financial problems like lack of income, unexpected expenses, too much debts, need for financial independence, bad credit and lack of saving culture in the society can also bring about divorce in families.
Lack of commitment can also lead to infidelity if you are not committed to your partner; you open yourself up to temptations. This can cause you to cheat on your spouse. Without commitment, you will feel obligated to work on your marriage.
Disagreements with someone you love can be challenging. The conversation can be uncomfortable, especially about firmly held beliefs. “Pain in the neck”, differences in religious beliefs or spirituality can even become a source of discontent if not addressed in a respectful and accepting manner.

Marrying too young is also another issue that can bring about divorce in marriage. Young men and women who are not yet ready for marriage can find life hard when they stay together hence opt for divorce in most cases.
Little to no pre-marriage preparations can make cohabitation overwhelming; this can create a very hard time to live with your spouse hence choice divorce as a best solution in marriage.
However in the African traditional society, marriage was for prestige and was highly valued and respected in the society.
